The chairman of the DPC PERADI Karawang, Asep Agustian SH.MH, urged the police to immediately arrest the perpetrators of the beating of 3 Karawang journalists in Waluya Village.

The reason is that this case of beatings and beatings is clearly approaching and can directly meet the legal elements, namely from evidence, confessions, victims and witnesses.

“If the village head person wins is involved in instructing the beating, it’s already been brought to court. Because if you look at the chronology of events, this is clearly a planned assault,” said Asep Agustian SH.MH, Tuesday (8/3/2022).

This legal practitioner who is often called Askun (Asep Kuncir) also emphasized that the Law Enforcement Officials (APH) both the police and the prosecutor’s office also thoroughly investigate the alleged withholding of BPNT funds in Waluya Village.

“The case of beating 3 journalists in Waluya Village has its reasons. And this asbab could also become a new criminal case, namely the alleged withholding of BPNT funds. So here are two cases that can be different criminals. I ask APH to also investigate the asbab case,” said Askun.

Askun said that the case of beating and beating the 3 media crews should not be taken lightly. Because he emphasized, freedom of the press has clearly been regulated in Law Number 40 of 1999 concerning the Press.

“This is no longer the era of the old order or the new order. This is the era of development reform, where every form of development policy must be transparent to the public. So herein lies the importance of the existence of mass media,” said Askun.

“If Waluya Village Officials feel that there is no problem in distributing BPNT to its residents, why should they use violence to solve problems,” Askun said.

Askun explained again, that a press person has rules for writing a news story that is regulated in the Press Law and the Journalistic Code of Ethics. So he always tries to confirm the news in every script written, so that it becomes a balanced journalistic work.

“This person wants to confirm the news and instead gets beaten up and beaten. If you really don’t feel guilty, it’s just a matter of clarifying it in the media. Remember, press personnel are protected by the lex specialis law,” Askun explained.

“Therefore, I urge the police to immediately arrest the perpetrators of the beating. Imprison the intellectual actors, as well as imprison the person cutting the BPNT funds in Waluya Village,” he said. (Kang yana)
